Jovial July from Susan

Hi from Susan....as the cool weather sets in, it is a wonderful time to stay indoors and scrapbook! I hope my layouts and the great Memory Maze Design chipboard pieces give you that inspiration.

BEAR BUM!

We live by the beach so our grandchildren are fast becoming water babies! They love swimming and playing in the sand. The "Bear Bum" title was perfect for this layout. I drew the sun on the back of a piece of patterned paper then cut it out. I distressed the edges then inked them to create shadowing.
The banner was covered with paper and the edges were inked to match in.

As soon as I saw the sheet of feet I knew what to do with them..... I coated them with PVA glue (runny white glue) then presses them into sand. Once they had dried I coated them with dimensional magic to seal in the sand and make them look wet.

The words in the title were painted with Radiant Rain in teal zircon with Glitzee Glue in aqua over the top.The bear was painted in nutmeg with Distress Stickles in vintage photo and antique linen smudged together over the top.

CHERISH

Embellishing with chipboard doesn't have to be an expensive time consuming effort ( unless you want it to be!). It still looks good with a couple of coats of paint. The frame was decorated to reflect the colours in the paper and the floral headpiece of the flower girl. (The photos aren't the best because they are original ones of me as a flowergirl in the mid 60"s!)

The wreath was painted with Distresss Crackle paint in weathered wood. When dry I glued on the flower layers. A quick, simple but effective finish for the chipboard

The heart banner as well as the 2 small hearts I cut off the ends were painted with gold paint.
I changed the colour of the rhinestone word with alcohol ink in orange as I wanted the contrast with the blue colours.

LAUGH, FUN

I chose the backing papers to highlight the feathers which I cololured to match in with the paper! The background sheet was plain cardstock that I sponged with bubble wrap dipped in black acrylic paint. I machine stitched around the edges.

The feathers and the cogs were inked in maroon, blue and grey smudges beside each other and blended in using a small sponge. Glitter glue in crystal was applied over the top and when it had dried I coated it with Dimensional Magic.

These cogs were inked the same as the ones above. The other embellishments on the layout were chosen to bring out the colours in the cogs and feather. There was a lot of fun to be had making this layout.

My last post for Memory Maze.

Firstly, let me say thank you for having me. It has been great fun and so nice to work with other inspirational ladies.

Venice mask Stall
My first layout uses our masks.

The 3 Memory Maze chipboard masks are inked first, then drizzled with liquid pearls.
Over the top of 2, I've used bronze liquid pearl dots to look like studs.
I also used that on the pennant to look like brads.
On the 3rd mask, there are Kaisercraft rhinestones.
The top mask has a feather with gold glitter tip tied with antique lace to the stick of the mask.
Here is a close up
There is also an arrow in the bottom right corner left raw.

This was a close up I took of myself for an inspirational layout about my retirement.
There are several layers including tea stained flowers, punched edges, washi tape, fussy cut flowers, flags ,and a cute striped drinking straw.
My focus piece was the Bird cage with bird from MEMORY MAZE

I used distress ink in Black soot on the cage then added tiny green flowers and word.
Here's a close up

Pretty Chippies

Lots of Pretties with
Linda Thompson

Wow this year is flying by, I've been super busy this month with lots of extra commitments so I thought I would share some projects I've created this month.

"Smile"

Chipboard Swirl Has been cut in half and painted in gesso, I've then sprayed it with glimmer mist ad let it pool in some areas and lightly wiped it in others to give the mottled affect.

Here is the other half of the swirl.

Med sized balloon also treated the same as the swirl & the word banner was also done the same but this time I used 2 colours of mist.

Such a cute little butterfly, a new range from MM has been painted in gesso and then lightly sprayed with pink glimmer mist.

This is one of my DD's many years ago with her favorite baby doll, this poor doll got so loved it lost all it's limbs several times and eventually was un-repairable, we managed to replace it with another doll exactly the same that we found at a garage sale and still to this day even at almost 11yrs old she still can't sleep without her baby doll.

Beautiful chipboard word from Memory Maze painted black and coated in glass glitter.

Cute chipboard banner tags also from memory Maze painted and inked to match.

"Memories Together"
Created for The Color Room

This photo was taken so long ago, Mister Glen is now 19 and Shyanne is 12, it was a rare random photo that I just love.

I wanted to keep the colours separate on this layout so I used the photo as my guide and made the top half all blue and the bottom brown, even adding some sand filled texture paste .

Memories word painted with Gesso then lightly inked in blue.

Frame has been painted in gesso and the top half inked in blue and bottom half inked in brown.

Together word has been painted in gesso, then the top half was lightly inked in blue around the edges and the bottom half inked in a light brown.
